Basic principle:
The BAF biological aerated filter leverages the advantages of two prominent aerobic biochemical wastewater treatment methods—the activated sludge process and the biofilm process—integrating biochemical reactions with physical and chemical filtration in a single reactor. This seamless integration of filtration, biochemical treatment, and material removal enables comprehensive sewage purification within a single reactor.
Structural form:
Based on the direction of influent water flow, biological aerated filters are classified as down-flow and up-flow types.

Technological characteristics:
Excellent shock resistance, with no sludge bulking issue.
It combines the advantages of the activated sludge process and the biofilm process, integrating biochemical reaction efficiency with filtration action.
